This week’s hit was born in Tulsa, Okla. at the age of zero.

Tragedy struck early for this youngster when his father, a police officer, was killed when he was a toddler.

His favorite high school teacher took note of his distinctive voice and launched him on a broadcast career.

While working at St. Louis radio station KXOK, our subject met Washington University graduate student Lynne Cooper. He proposed on their first date (she said "no") and always called her "Angel."

Well, in 1940, he married that angel and had a son.

…OK… I’m not going to do that for the whole e-mail.  Because I don’t know… "The Rest of the Story."

Yes, Paul Harvey died at the spry age of 90.  No cause of death was given but Ghoul Pool sources close to the Harvey paulharveycompound say that it was in some way related to being 90 years old.

His death comes less than a year after his wife’s death, proving that he really loved his spouse.  Unlike Hume Cronin.  And Nancy Reagan.

Harvey began each of his news broadcasts with "Stand by for… news."  Hence me uttering "Stand by for… death," every single time he was drafted.  Well, no more.  He stood by.

Harvey’s long respected broadcasting career will always be remembered for his show "The Rest of the Story," where he told the life story of famous people chronologically, reveling their names only at the very end of the program ("And that little boy that no one liked grew up to be….:  Roy Cohn).

ap_harvey_II This hit goes to your illustrious Ghoul Pool Adm-  What?!?  Are you kidding me?!?!  THAT IMAGINARY BASTARD!!!!!!!!  Imaginary Steve steals one of my favorite annual picks out from under me and it earns him his second hit and an additional 10 points.  the Ghoul Pool is a harsh mistress.

Your illustrious Ghoul Pool Administrator is still hitless this year.  But it’s rumored that Ed McMahon is hospitalized with bone cancer… where’s your cash-for-gold now?

Till then, happy pooling,

SPMI
