Catholic Cardinal (I know, here we go again…), Jorge María Mejía died at the spry age of 91.

Mejía was ordained to the priesthood for the Metropolitan See of Buenos Aires.  This is the Catholic equivalent of  metro-sexual.  So, his vestments were always trendy, he gave his homilies at the Buenos Aires Starbucks over a caramel macchiato latte, and he had the best manicure this side of the Pope.

In January 2010 Mejía led the delegation from the Holy See’s Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews.

Known in Papal circles as "The Great Finger-Waver," Jorge rarely won arguments on merit, but he stole the show by scolding opponents with his finger-waving.

Known in Papal circles as “The Great Finger-Waver,” Jorge rarely won arguments on merit, but he stole the show by scolding opponents with his finger-waving.

They had some heated debates on this commission.  Jorge was firm on the side of “Tell them we’re right and you’re wrong.”  This may sound bad but the other side of the debate was, “Go to hell, you heathens, for killing our savior.”

The Catholic Church was never known for being open-minded or accepting.

Jorge was the Archbishop of Apollonia… I want to make a joke here about Michael Corleone’s first wife here but I’m pretty sure that I would get it.  Damn.  It’s hard out here for a film major.

This hit goes to: Tailgating with Jesus!  Yes the sports theme…. oh… no, it wasn’t him.  Lemme check again…

OK, this hit goes to: The Age of Aquarius (AKA: Dawn).  This is Dawn’s…. wait, that might be wrong too.

Congrats to Nathaniel!  I was  surprised to see that Jorge was one of the people that shaped his childhood… I might still be wrong…

Well, whoever got the hit: congratulations!

Happy pooling,

SPMI
