Co-star of “Airwolf,” Ernest Borgnine died at the spry age of 95.

Borgnine won an Oscar for playing a lovelorn butcher in the 1955 film, “Marty.”  If you have not seen “Marty,” seriously, put it on your damn queue.  Right now.  That’s OK, I’ll wait……

Born inHamden,CT(Shout-out for being near my hometown ofDurham!), Borgnine joined the Navy where he was a gruff but lovable skipper  who, inexplicably, went under the pseudonym Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale.

Borgnine on the set of “From Here to Eternity.” That satisfied look is because he just kicked the crap out of Frank Sinatra.

While involved with such small projects as “From Here to Eternity,” & “The Dirty Dozen,” We all know that he will be remembered for the mega-blockbusters like “Ice Station Zebra,” “Code Name: Wild Geese,” and “Holiday Hookers.”

He appeared on “The Love Boat.”  But let’s face it: Everybody appeared on the Love Boat.  I mean, Frank Bonner made it onto The Love Boat. Twice.  Matter of fact, the Love Boat’s IMDb page would make for some sweet Ghoul Pool research.  Hmm… I better keep that one under my hat.

From 1984 to 1986, he co-starred with professional train-wreck, Jan-Michael Vincent, in the “popular” TV show, “Airwolf.”  The show was about a super-high-tech helicopter; kind of like “Knight Rider” for whirly-birds.  And no, this is not the most embarrassing project for an Oscar winner to be involved with (see “Boat Trip” for more details).

In 2002, he was Touched by and Angel.

Borgnine was a Freemason in Hollywood Lodge No. 355, and a 33rd° Scottish Rite Mason in the Southern Masonic Jurisdiction.  Which I think means that he secretly ran the world.  Ghoul Pool sources have had trouble deciphering the esoteric information about this part of Borgnine’s life.

His autobiography, Ernie, was a runaway best seller.  Unfortunately, most of those sales were from people who thought it was the long-awaited tell-all tome by Bert, sharing all of the salacious details of his roommate’s life.

In 1964, he married Ethel Merman (one of 5 wives) for a month.  In Merman’s autobiography, the chapter about Borgnine was a blank page.  Borgnine fell Short of Henry the 8th’s record.

In 2008, Borgnine whispered to an interviewer the secret of his longevity: “I masturbate a lot.”  Amen, brother.  Keep on strokin’.

This hit goes to: Nathaniel!   Yes, who would have thought Zsa Zsa would have outlived… well anyone… accept maybe Jan-Michael Vincent.

This is a special hit because this is a rookie’s first time on the board!  Yes, in his first year, he is officially ahead of the Ghoul Pool Administrator!

Congrats to Nathaniel and Happy Pooling,
